4 All Things Disney

Just a couple of Mickey Mouse fans sharing our favorite things about Disney

Disneyland

Disneyland Railroad Lilly Belle Train Car Tour

Lilly Belle

When my friend McKenzie and I went on a trip to Disneyland, we got the special privilege of getting a private tour of Lilly Belle!  Lilly Belle is the end train car on the Disneyland Railroad.  This is where special guests of Walt Disney were able to ride in privacy on the train.  Walt named the train car after his wife Lilly.

We felt so spoiled and like royalty getting a tour of this train car!  I don’t know how we lucked out getting the entire place to ourselves! Steve the Conductor was our tour guide!  He was so cute and brought a photographer along to take our pictures on our adventure!  How did he know we would love that so much?!  This special adventure left us with giant grins ALL WEEK LONG!

The caboose car Lilly Belle is not always attached to the train, but if you ever spot it, that means its a special day for someone!  The car does not have air conditioning in it, so when its hot out side the car does not run.  It always has unique windows that don’t work with the rain, so it doesn’t run on rainy days either.  So if its a dreamy day out, make sure to head to the Disneyland Railroad and see if you can catch a glimpse of Lilly Belle.

The Decorations

The mahogany wood finish and Victorian details of the train car are so glam!  At the time, that truly was the most royal decor you could get! And….. still is today!

When the sunlight peaked through the stain glass panels it would shine fun colors into the train car.  It was really lovely!  I wish I remembered all the cool facts Steve told us about the train car!

This is Steve the Conductor! Isn’t he just the cutest?! He was the best tour guide ever!

This picture was Steve’s idea!  He was like “I have an idea for the best picture ever!”  Steve, I think you are right, best idea ever 🙂  This is my favorite picture from our adventure aboard Lilly Belle!

How Did We Get To Ride Lilly Belle?

So you may be asking yourself? How in the world did we get a private tour on the Lilly Belle?!  Well, to be honest, pure lucky and kindness!

The Disneyland Railroad was down because of the Star Wars Land construction.  It was a nice weather out and the Disneyland Railroad Train was out on display.  McKenzie and I went up to the gate and asked the conductor if we could take our picture on the train car.  He smiled and said, of course.

We started walking and kept walking the entire length of the train car.  As we were walking there was a photographer and Steve told him to come along too.  We got to the end and saw the caboose.  Steve asked us how we heard about Lilly Belle, and we had no idea what he was talking about!  When we walked inside we realized this was something very special!

We got to spend a good chunk of time chatting in the train car, looking at all the neat decor, taking pictures and making new friends! It felt like time sat still and we had Disneyland to ourselves.  Normally when you are on Lilly Belle they have train tickets for you.  They were out of those so we didn’t get to take one home, but we did get to take home some awesome pictures!

I love that you can be just anybody and Disney will treat you like royalty!  This was such a special experience I will always remember and cherish! Thank you so much to Steve who made these two girls the happiest girls on the planet!

How to Ride Lilly Belle

After I got home I did some research on Lilly Belle.  Sadly it is closed to the public to ride it.  It did look like though if you are a Club 33 member or part of any special Disney clubs you could potential get tickets to ride the train car.

If you stop by the picture gallery shop on Main Street you can find some fun photos of Lilly Belle.

The Vlog

Want to tour Lilly Belle for yourself?! Come hop aboard the train car as McKenzie and I squeal and giggle the entire time! eek!
